The good of FLAX
Flax field...
Flax is a plant yielding fiber and oil, a plant that yields oil from its seeds and flax from its stems.
Latin name: Linum usitatissimum
Flax has powerful health and weight-loss benefits and gives your health and metabolism a three-for-one boost.
Whole ground flax seeds contain fiber, omega-3 fats and a phytonutrient called lignans. The fiber absorbs water, slowing the rate of absorption of sugar, fat and calories into your bloodstream, leaving you feeling full and satisfied after a meal, not craving more junk or food.
The alpha linoleic acid in flax seeds is an important anti-inflammatory omega-3 fat that promotes weight loss and improves your overall health. Lignans have unique hormone balancing properties and help your body rid itself of toxic estrogens. Flax helps your metabolism and detoxifies estrogens reducing your risk of breast cancer and weight gain.
So sprinkle two tablespoons of fresh ground flax seeds on your vegetables, salads, whole grains and beans or add them to a protein shake in the morning. Keep them in the fridge or freezer, and use a coffee grinder to grind your own. Grind up to a half cup at a time and store in a sealed glass jar in the fridge.
